ludacrisp apple

You’ve heard of Honeycrisp apples or the popular Evercrisp. Well, it’s time to meet the Ludacrisp apple – the latest variety set to take this fall by storm.

The Ludacrisp apple was created by the Midwest Apple Improvement Association. With its juicy and fruity flavor, this apple is sure to be a hit with apple fans of all ages.

The last popular variety from the Midwest Apple Improvement Association was the Evercrisp, which was released a few years ago. It’s a top-selling variety and was well-received.

The Ludacrisp apple is set to hit farm markets, grocery stores and more – with more than 50,000 trees sold in 2020, mostly in Ohio.

The Ludacrisp originated at the Lynd Fruit Farm in Pataskala, Ohio – near Columbus. Mitch Lynd owns the farm and is also a co-founder of Midwest Apple Improvement Association. They saw the potential in the variety pretty quickly and realized it was going to be an easy-to-grow tree that does well for farmers.

So, what does it look like? This apple is large and red with a crisp flesh, full of juice and a fruity flavor. It almost has a tropical fruit flavor and it’s been compared to Juicy Fruit chewing gum.

The amazing and unique taste is what sets this apple variety apart.

Other popular Midwest Apple Improvement Association varieties include these trademarked apples: Rosalee, Sweet Zinger, Ludacrisp and Summerset.

The Ludacrisp will be harvested in September and October. Are you excited to try it? Let us know what you think.
